Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Project Design Engineer to own bespoke mechanical and process system projects from concept through installation and handover.

You will deliver technically varied, one-off projects and collaborate with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams and installers to ensure practical, cost-effective designs. Hybrid working is available, with strong emphasis on project leadership and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in design or project design roles.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and 3D CAD modelling.
• Experience delivering bespoke engineering projects from concept to installation.
• Background in process equipment or related machinery.
• Strong mechanical engineering and manufacturing process knowledge.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from concept through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop innovative engineering solutions based on customer requirements.
• Create assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support shop floor manufacturing and assembly activities.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and customer specifications.
• Track project progress and assist with technical problem-solving throughout delivery.
