Job summary

QinetiQ Boscombe Down is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical design solutions for complex aerospace and defence tasks. The role requires high-integrity engineering and ownership of challenging projects.

You will support aircraft modifications and ship designs, guide cross-functional teams, and coordinate reviews and testing of ideas at design reviews. A strong background in engineering fundamentals is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing technical hardware solutions in regulated industries with precision tolerances or domain knowledge.
• Significant experience creating technical drawings from 3D models with suppliers, manufacturers and customers.
• Ability to work without supervision and mentor less experienced practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Reviews: Guide SME's at Design Reviews and chair pre-reviews.
• Lead and chair Engineering reviews.
• Delivery: Contributes to continuous improvement.
• Technical: Advise or present to customers and stakeholders.
• Governance: Manage QA and authoring processes.
