Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Gosport is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design delivery on complex tasks, owning end-to-end outcomes. The role emphasizes high integrity engineering and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to meet demanding engineering challenges onsite.

You will champion design reviews, guide technical teams through validated processes, and drive continued improvements while coordinating with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience with hazard identification, safety cases and safety management systems.
• Ability to apply analytical, simulation and modelling techniques.
• Knowledge of materials selection, coatings and corrosion.
• Experience in concept design and development.
• Significant experience creating technical drawings from 3D models in Siemens NX; liaising with suppliers, customers and SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Guide and coordinate design reviews with subject‑matter experts, including pre‑reviews and internal/customer reviews.
• Lead continuous improvement during delivery, coordinating technical teams to produce optimized designs and detailed reports.
• Provide confident technical presentations to customers, stakeholders, and peers while promoting high standards through inventive problem solving.
• Apply safety engineering tools across the project lifecycle and contribute to Design Safety Cases.
