Job summary

QinetiQ Limited is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer for the Boscombe Down site to lead safety case development and ensure certification or safety of flight. The role covers hazard identification, risk management, and safety planning across aircraft modification and testing programs.

Essential qualifications include a Master’s degree in safety or aviation disciplines, with experience in safety case reporting and regulatory governance.

Qualifications

• Technical report writing for Safety Case reporting and advice
• Safety requirement generation and management
• Understanding of Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and how to use it to support safety arguments
• Knowledge of regulatory governance in design processes
• Familiarity with safety engineering tools at project lifecycle stages
• Understanding of statistical approaches to safety

Responsibilities

• Lead the safety activities including hazard identification, risk analysis and management
• Prepare safety and risk management documentation to support certification and PtF
• Define safety and risk management philosophy to meet requirements
• Interpret requirements and regulatory constraints to support safety arguments
• Maintain hazards and controls register
