Job summary

SII UK is seeking experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to support high-profile aerospace and defence programmes. You will design, develop, and integrate complex mechanical systems, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions across the full product lifecycle.

The role offers exposure to critical programmes, opportunities to apply CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX), and to contribute to design reviews, DFMA, and verification activities while ensuring

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical design within regulated industries (e.g. Aerospace, Defence, Automotive).
• Strong proficiency with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX).
• Experience producing 2D drawings and 3D models to a high standard.
• Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
• Experience working within structured engineering lifecycle frameworks (V-model).
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into design solutions.
• Familiarity with configuration management and design change processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools
• Produce detailed engineering drawings in line with applicable standards (e.g. BS, ISO, ASME)
• Support concept development, detailed design, and design maturation activities
• Perform tolerance analysis and ensure design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA)
• Work closely with systems, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure design integration
• Support design reviews (PDR, CDR) and provide technical input to stakeholders
• Contribute to verification and validation activities, including testing and analysis
• Manage design changes, technical documentation, and configuration control processes
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal engineering governance
