Job summary

MBDA is seeking a Principal Test Engineer to join the Manufacturing team in Bolton, supporting test and diagnostics of electrical/electronic sub-systems and circuit cards during early phases of the product lifecycle. You will provide technical support to the manufacturing test capability to meet programme targets in time, cost and quality.

You will work with Operations, design teams and Test Experts to implement the project test strategy, maintain test documentation, and develop test fixtures

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4+ in Engineering with relevant modules.
• Several years' experience in related industry/manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic measurement and test principles.
• Experience using manual and automated test equipment.
• Familiar with SAP/MES for test activities and non-conformance reporting.
• Ability to plan and organise multiple tasks to meet objectives.
• Good verbal and written communication; ability to write test specs and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide Test Engineering support during Design through Production Readiness.
• Support Test Facility introduction and configuration control.
• Test electrical/electronic sub-assemblies and diagnose faults to component level.
• Collaborate with Operations and design teams to solve technical challenges.
• Deliver in line with programme and quality requirements; maintain governance.
• Work with Test Experts and designers to implement test strategy and testability.
• Help compile initial process flows for new product.
• Create and maintain test documentation for production equipment.
• Support Process FMEA with test mitigations.
• Initialise test fixture designs for new product.
• Estimate time to test new products.
• Support functional & environmental testing of prototypes.
