Job summary

St Elizabeth’s Centre is seeking a Senior Learning Practitioner to support learners aged 16-19 at St Elizabeth’s School, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire. This term-time only contract (39 weeks per year) offers a pro rata salary of £24,202.

Working with teachers and a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver learning activities, support lesson planning and monitor learner progress, helping to build independence and confidence in learners with epilepsy and complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering and supporting learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes.
  • Supporting lesson planning, delivery and assessment.
  • Monitoring, recording and reporting on learner progress.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of individual learning, behaviour and personal care plans.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and learner engagement.
  • Working collaboratively with education, therapy, medical and care teams to ensure excellent outcomes.
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues as required.
  • Supporting learners during community activities, educational visits and enrichment opportunities.

About the Role

Working closely with Teachers and a multidisciplinary team, you will take responsibility for delivering agreed learning activities and support learners to achieve their individual goals. You will play a key role in creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment whilst helping to develop independence and self-confidence.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting learners with additional needs, including autism, epilepsy and learning disabilities.
  • Is confident delivering learning activities and supporting classroom management.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
  • Is committed to promoting dignity, independence and inclusion.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Has a positive, proactive and compassionate approach.

A Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent) and additional training such as Makaton would be advantageous.
