Job summary

St Elizabeth’s Centre in Hertfordshire is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for its College, supporting young adults aged 19–25 with complex learning needs. The role is based in Much Hadham, within a specialist college setting, and involves working with teachers, therapists and a supportive multidisciplinary team.

You’ll help learners develop communication and independence through tailored activities, while contributing to a calm, inclusive classroom and safeguarding practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in education or care is helpful but not essential.
  • Confident communicator with learners who have diverse needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting independence.

Responsibilities

  • Support students 1:1 and in small groups with learning, communication and independence.
  • Deliver creative, tailored lessons meeting individual needs and education plans.
  • Promote a positive classroom environment that values diversity and wellbeing.
  • Provide personal care and administer medications with training.

Location: St Elizabeth’s Centre, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire
(Just 10 minutes from Bishop’s Stortford and Harlow)Contract: Term-time only (Monday to Friday, 40 weeks per year, 8:30am - 4:30pm)Salary: £23,368 - £24,342 per annum (£13.30 - £13.86 hourly)

You’ll be based within our specialist College in Much Hadham, supporting young adults ages 19-25with complex learning and additional needs.

You’ll work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals, getting to know each learner as an individual and understanding what helps them thrive.

You’ll learn from others, share ideas and develop your own skills along the way.

No two days will be the same!You could be supporting a learner 1:1 deliver an engaging activity, developing communication and independence skills, supporting someone in the community or helping with personal care.

You’ll see the small moments that can represent huge achievements.

About You

You’re someone who’s calm, kind, patient — and genuinely passionate about helping others succeed. You don’t need formal education qualifications to apply, just the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Experience in an education or care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Confident communicator who can engage positively with children who have learning disabilities.
  • Able to support with personal care when needed, always with dignity and respect.
  • Strong team player with good ICT and organisational skills
  • Ready to learn, grow and be part of something meaningful.
