Job summary

Jodie AI is a UK company building an AI receptionist for busy businesses. We are looking for a backend engineer to own Laravel services, APIs and background jobs, ensuring reliable webhook processing and scalable databases.

You will collaborate with London-based engineers and contribute to customer-facing workflows. A strong track record in Laravel and PHP is essential, along with API design and testing practices.

Work alongside our London team, with direct access to the people building and supporting Jodie.

What you'll own

• Design and ship Laravel services, APIs and background jobs with clear contracts and useful observability.


• Make webhook processing resilient to retries, duplicate events and partial failures.


• Improve database performance, tenant isolation and the reliability of customer-facing workflows.


• Work with voice, web and mobile engineers, reviewing changes and supporting what you ship.

Your first 90 days

A starting point we'll shape together, with clear priorities and support.

  Trace a customer workflow end to end and ship a well-tested improvement.

  Own a backend feature from design through release and monitoring.




• By day 90
  Improve a measurable reliability or performance problem and document the trade-offs.

Where and when you'll work

Full-time, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Work primarily from our London HQ during UK business hours. Discuss any flexibility you need at the first conversation.
