Job summary

Salt is offering a 12-month contract in London for a senior Java engineer focused on server-side development. The role centers on migrating a legacy application to an event-driven, microservices-based architecture and requires onsite work eight days per month.

You will join an Agile team, lead delivery, ensure architecture is aligned with standards, and mentor junior developers while contributing hands-on coding in Java, Docker, Kubernetes and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Strong Java software development across full SDLC.
• Hands-on experience with microservices in Java.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and Linux.
• Familiarity with Kafka and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Migrate the legacy application to a new event-based and service-oriented architecture.
• Lead delivery of an end-to-end IT solution meeting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Ensure solution aligns with engineering standards and architecture guidelines.
• Coordinate walkthroughs to ensure end-to-end consistency across teams.
• Undertake hands-on development and coach junior staff on new technologies.
