Job summary

Oliver Bernard is seeking three senior Java Developers to join a high-performing engineering team delivering cloud-native applications. You will design, develop and maintain Java microservices, work with Kafka, AWS and Kubernetes, and collaborate in an Agile environment to deliver scalable, resilient platforms.

The role focuses on building event-driven systems, with strong emphasis on engineering quality, automation, and production-ready deployments. Hybrid onsite in London, ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Extensive Java development experience, Java 11+ preferred.
• Proven experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Cloud-native development on AWS with containerized services.
• Experience deploying and operating on Kubernetes and managing microservices.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems; solid CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-performance Java microservices.
• Build and enhance event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• Develop cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Deploy and operate applications using Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement across the development team.
• Support production releases and help troubleshoot complex technical issues where required.
• Strong commercial experience with Java (Java 11+).
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and AWS services.
• Experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing; Agile/Scrum experience.
