Job summary

Crown Commercial Service seeks a Senior Interaction Designer to lead the design of complex, high-impact transactional services, ensuring inclusive and intuitive digital experiences for all users. You will shape service strategy across Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live phases, mentoring contractors and collaborating with researchers, content designers and engineers.

You will drive accessibility, apply GOV.UK Design System standards, and use evidence-based design to deliver real value to citizens

Qualifications

• Proven end-to-end interaction design experience in agile environments.
• Prototyping with Figma/HTML/CSS to test hypotheses and validate user flows.
• Expertise in WCAG 2.2 accessibility and inclusive design.
• Evidence-based design using user research and usability testing.
• Influencing stakeholders and building consensus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end journey design: map flows, wireframes, touchpoints.
• Rapid prototyping in Figma/HTML/CSS to test hypotheses and refine interactions.
• Ensure WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility across all touchpoints.
• Develop and extend GOV.UK Design System patterns.
• Collaborate with researchers to iterate based on real user data.
• Translate policy/tech constraints into human-centered solutions.
• Lead co-design and strategic workshops.
• Provide design leadership across Discovery to Live phases.
• Line management and mentoring of contractors.
