Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to shape how users interact with digital services, defining flows, behaviours and interface patterns for intuitive, accessible experiences.

Working in multidisciplinary teams, you will translate user needs and service requirements into clear interaction models, ensuring usability, consistency, and alignment with modern design standards, including GOV.UK design systems.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing interactions for complex digital products and services in Agile environments.
• Excellent prototyping with high-fidelity models using modern tools.
• Experience applying GOV.UK Design System or similar design systems.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed interaction patterns, user flows, and interface behaviours for complex digital services.
• Create high-fidelity prototypes to communicate interaction logic and support delivery.
• Define micro-interactions, system states, validation patterns, and edge cases for robust UX.
• Apply and extend design systems, contributing reusable components and patterns (GOV.UK).
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure designs are implemented, accessible and performant.
• Ensure WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
• Work with researchers and UX designers to iterate based on evidence and feedback.
• Contribute to end-to-end service design aligning journeys and touchpoints.
• Maintain consistency across products via shared components and standards.
• Document interaction specs to support development and handover.
