Job summary

Elgin Energy seeks a Senior HV Engineer to be the technical authority on grid connection and HV design for utility-scale solar and BESS projects across the UK and Ireland, with potential involvement in Italy. You will guide feasibility, select connection methods, and ensure that design, procurement and construction meet Elgin's requirements and network standards.

This role focuses on de-risking early development decisions and providing escalation support to projects from concept through

Qualifications

Extensive HV and grid connection engineering experience (MV through 132 kV).
Experience on UK utility-scale solar, BESS or ICP/DNO projects to energisation.
Knowledge of GB G99 and related connection processes.
Ability to develop and challenge technical inputs for planning applications and land agreements.
Capability to specify and review cable modelling, ampacity and losses studies.

Responsibilities

Lead development-stage technical aspects of connection method and grid route optioneering.
Define substation footprint and cable routes for planning and land agreements.
Review contractor designs against Elgin's Employer's Requirements and network standards.
Own contestable vs non-contestable boundaries and scope decisions with ICP/EPC.
Act as technical escalation point during construction, commissioning and energisation.
