Job summary

Greenvolt is seeking an experienced Power Systems Design Engineer to design HV/LV systems for utility scale solar projects in the UK, delivering high-quality drawings and documentation across pre-construction and construction phases. You will manage grid connections, liaise with the DNO, and ensure compliance with G99 and G100 while developing SLDs and protection philosophies for solar PV installations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience designing HV and LV systems in power generation.
• Strong solar PV project experience preferred.
• Experience engaging with DNOs and grid connections.
• Solid understanding of G99 and G100 requirements.
• Experience producing/reviewing SLDs and protection philosophies.
• Grid studies experience (load flow, fault level, protection coordination).
• Familiarity with grid modelling tools such as ETAP or similar.
• Knowledge of UK grid code and ENA standards.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design of HV/LV systems for utility-scale and commercial solar PV.
• Develop and review system architecture and SLDs from concept to detail.
• Coordinate grid connection applications with the DNO.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and standards (G99, G100).
• Coordinate grid studies including load flow and protection coordination.
• Define primary plant: transformers, switchgear, protection, inverters, metering.
• Support protection design and relay settings per DNO specs.
• Respond to DNO offers and technical queries.
• Provide input during procurement, FAT/SAT, commissioning, energisation.
• Support design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering.
• Ensure designs align with BS, IEC, ENA and site requirements.
