EDF power solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Technical Services and delivery engineering team. The candidate will have a strong background in high and low voltage plant, transformers, switchgear, cables, joints, terminations and protection relay testing.

Experience in the power sector, including renewable energy projects, is highly valued. The role requires leadership of a small team and a mix of hands-on and engineering qualification, with ability to

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Several years of relevant engineering experience focusing on high voltage plant and apparatus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• Extensive experience in design and operation of electrical systems including transformers, switchgear, cables and protection relays.
• Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and their integration into electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards (IEC, IEEE), and HV methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with experience managing a small team.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Lead engineering upgrades and projects from concept through delivery, ensuring on-time completion.
• Guarantee compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with mechanical, SCADA and external engineers to deliver integrated HV solutions.
• Review maintenance reports to identify defects and trends for improvement.
• Manage and communicate findings with stakeholders to enhance system reliability.
• Review and approve engineering specifications; assist in procuring alternative parts due to obsolescence while maintaining supply continuity.
• Plan and coordinate electrical resources with internal teams and external consultants/subcontractors.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns.
• Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure delivery.
• Assist with Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in HV engineering.
• Prepare and present reports and project updates to management and clients.
• Willingness to travel across the UK to support projects.
• Oversee relationships with external contractors to ensure compliance and smooth execution.
