Job summary

EDF Energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Technical Services and Delivery Engineering team. The role focuses on HV/LV plant, transformers, switchgear, cables and protection relays, with the ability to lead a small team.

Experience in power generation, including onshore/offshore wind, solar and battery storage, is highly desirable. Occasional UK travel to project sites is expected. You will manage upgrades from concept to delivery and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• Extensive experience with HV plant, transformers, switchgear, cables and protection relays.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards and high voltage systems.
• Leadership, effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fault finding, testing and repair of HV systems and components.
• Lead engineering upgrades/projects from concept through delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integrated HV solutions.
• Review maintenance reports to identify defects and trends.
• Communicate findings with stakeholders to improve reliability.
• Review and approve engineering specifications and design documents.
• Plan and coordinate electrical resources for projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Manage project timelines and budgets.
• Support RCA and implement corrective actions.
• Stay current with HV industry trends and best practices.
• Prepare and present engineering reports to management and clients.
• Travel across the UK to support projects as needed.
• Oversee relationships with external contractors and suppliers.
