Job summary

Arup is seeking an experienced Chartered Electrical Engineer to provide strategic leadership across HV electrical design for major transmission and infrastructure projects in the UK. You will oversee design, assurance, and interfaces with civil and construction disciplines, ensuring high quality delivery and governance.

You will mentor teams, drive digital engineering adoption, and represent engineering in governance forums, with a focus on reliability and efficiency for the national grid and

Qualifications

• Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng IET) or equivalent.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary electrical design teams.
• Experience in major electricity transmission projects and governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide organisation-wide technical leadership and set design governance standards.
• Oversee design, assurance and integration of HV electrical deliverables (substations, cables, OHL).
• Lead technical reviews, risk management and sign-off across complex design packages.
• Mentor engineers and support onboarding to build capability.
• Engage with National Grid and stakeholders, supporting bids and programme strategy.
