Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) to join our Transmission & Distribution team across the UK. You will design, implement and optimise high‑voltage transmission cables for onshore and offshore projects, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and guiding FEED through to construction.

The role requires robust experience in HV cable systems, strong analytical and communication skills, and a proactive approach to delivering resilient energy

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering (Bachelors or above).
Masters in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Experience in design of HVAC/HV and HVDC transmission cable systems for onshore and offshore projects.

Responsibilities

HVAC/HVDC Cable System Design for onshore and offshore projects.
Coordinate with civil, environmental and substation teams.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and cost analyses.
Lead FEED and detail design for transmission cable systems.
Support consenting processes and interface with stakeholders.
Develop design concepts from tender through construction stages.
Troubleshoot installation and operation issues; stay updated on HV cable tech.
