Job summary
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Power Transmission and Distribution team. You will develop innovative solutions for transmission grid systems, ensuring security of supply and integrating renewables across projects from concept to delivery.
The role involves coordinating with major utilities and internal teams, reporting to the Power team Principal Engineer, and delivering across lifecycle stages from feasibility to commissioning in a hybrid working environment.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering and working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Experience in power transmission and distribution industry.
- Design, delivery and supervision of HV substations (110kV–400kV).
- Development of HV AIS/GIS substation specs and equipment.
- Experience across all lifecycle stages and safety requirements.
- Ability to produce technical reports in English.
Responsibilities
- Lead primary plant layout for HV substations.
- Specify equipment for HV plant and ancillary gear.
- Provide input to major projects from feasibility to commissioning.
- Coordinate with client teams and internal disciplines (CAD/BIM, civil, environmental).
- Deliver projects in new technologies (energy storage, HVDC, smart grids).
