Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) to join our Transmission & Distribution team in the Energy unit. You will lead HVAC/HVDC cable system design for onshore and offshore projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable energy delivery.

The role offers a hybrid work model, opportunities to work on major energy infrastructure, and the chance to influence cable system concepts from FEED through construction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Masters in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in HVAC/HVDC transmission cable systems.
• Experience in onshore and offshore cable design.
• Strong analytical skills for complex engineering problems.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing ability.
• Experience with UK/Ireland utilities.

Responsibilities

• HVAC/HVDC Cable System Design for onshore and offshore projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cables into substations and grid networks.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and cost analyses for cable projects.
• FEED: deliver innovative cable system integration solutions for major projects.
• Support consenting processes and interface with civil/environmental teams.
• Lead tender and detail design from concept to construction documentation.
• Troubleshoot cable-related issues during installation and operation.
