Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Senior HV Cable System Design Engineer to contribute to HV cables capability. This role encompasses client engagement, bid preparation, and design leadership for major transmission projects. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, extensive experience in HV cable design, and strong communication skills. Mentoring junior engineers will be part of the role. The position supports hybrid working arrangements with competitive salaries and benefits.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in HV cable design, manufacture, testing, and installation.
Familiarity with specifications from National Grid, SPEN, SSEN.
Willingness to travel for site visits as required.

Responsibilities

Engage with clients and support strategic growth initiatives.
Lead preparation of bids and proposals with technical input and cost estimation.
Collaborate with project management to develop competitive offers.
Lead HV Cables FEED and detailed design works.
Coordinate with other disciplines and subcontractors as needed.
Mentor junior engineers for internal capability development.
