Job summary

NFU Mutual in Glasgow is seeking a High Net Worth Technical Underwriter to shape underwriting strategy for the HNW product range, with emphasis on HNW Property. The role requires senior underwriting expertise, market insight and the ability to translate appetite into practical guidance for Agents and Underwriters.

You will analyse portfolio performance, collaborate across Pricing, Sales, Agency, Claims, Product and Regions, and act as a final referral point for high-value cases within authority

Qualifications

• HNW underwriting experience with involvement in strategy, risk selection and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to interpret portfolio performance and market information to make recommendations.
• Effective communicator and report writer, tailoring technical guidance for varied audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop underwriting strategy for HNW product range, especially HNW Property.
• Define risk appetite, terms and features, and translate appetite into guidance for Agents and Underwriters.
• Use data/MI to identify opportunities and support evidence-based decisions.
• Provide expert judgement on risk rates and rating logic; final referral point for high-value cases.
