NFU Mutual is seeking a Personal Lines Technical Underwriter to shape underwriting strategy across its Personal Lines product range, with emphasis on Private Car. The role involves using data-driven judgement to support profitable growth and fair customer outcomes, with hybrid working and offices in multiple UK locations including Glasgow.

You will define risk appetite, create guidance for agents and underwriters, and collaborate with pricing, sales, and claims teams to ensure consistent

Competenze

• Personal Lines underwriting experience, ideally including Private Car.
• Experience contributing to underwriting strategy, risk appetite, risk selection, underwriting rules or risk acceptance criteria.
• Ability to analyse portfolio performance and management information, using data to inform decisions and actionable recommendations.
• Experience producing clear reports and communicating technical underwriting guidance to varied audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management, collaboration and influencing skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strategic and critical thinking with practical problem-solving and independent judgement.

Mansioni

• Recommend and develop underwriting strategy for Personal Lines with a primary focus on Private Car.
• Define rules, processes and communications to implement the underwriting strategy.
• Use data, MI and portfolio performance analysis to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
• Provide expert judgement on risk rates and rating logic; translate appetite into actionable guidance.
• Act as final point of referral for complex, high-value or contentious cases within authority and procedures.
• Collaborate with Pricing, Sales, Agency, Claims, Product, Propositions, Regions and industry bodies to align guidance.
