Job summary

NFU Mutual is seeking a High Net Worth Technical Underwriter to shape underwriting strategy and risk appetite across the HNW product range, with a primary focus on HNW Property. This role sits in the Head Office Underwriting Department and involves guiding terms, features and decision-making guidance for agents and underwriters.

You will use data and portfolio performance analysis to identify opportunities, set risk appetite, and provide expert judgement on rating logic.

Qualifications

• HNW underwriting experience with sound general insurance knowledge.
• Experience contributing to underwriting strategy, risk appetite, and rules.
• Ability to analyse portfolio performance using data to inform decisions.
• Strong report writing and ability to communicate guidance to varied audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop underwriting strategy for HNW product range, focusing on HNW Property.
• Translate underwriting appetite into clear, workable guidance for Agents and Underwriters.
• Use data and portfolio analysis to identify opportunities and support decisions.
• Provide expert judgement on risk rates and rating logic; contribute to improvements in knowledge and capability.
• Collaborate with Pricing, Sales, Agency, Claims, Product, Propositions, Regions and Marketing.
