Job summary

Teaching Tomorrow is seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a friendly primary school team. You will lead whole-class activities when required and contribute to high-quality learning experiences across the school.

You will deliver targeted interventions, monitor pupil progress, and support pupils with diverse needs. The role offers flexible supply work with potential longer-term placements and ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification and experience.
  • Experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire children to achieve their best.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead whole-class learning activities in the absence of a teacher.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils.
  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes to individuals and small groups.
  • Assist in assessing, recording, and monitoring pupil progress.
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations of all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support pupil achievement.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community.
