Job summary

Supply Desk in Portsmouth is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support across key stages in a welcoming school. You will deliver planned lessons, cover class teaching when needed, and work with pupils with SEND to promote learning.

This long-term, full-time role offers a competitive daily rate (£95-£130) and opportunities for ongoing professional development, with comprehensive safeguarding checks in place.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role.
• Experience in a UK primary or specialist school is desirable.
• Ability to lead whole-class learning and adapt to different ages.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons and provide whole-class cover in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support teaching and learning across a range of year groups, adapting to the needs of the school.
• Lead small group and one-to-one interventions to support pupil progress.
• Work with pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEND.
• Assist with planning, preparing and delivering engaging learning activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals to support pupils' development.
