Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a welcoming Taunton school to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a September start. The role involves supporting and, where appropriate, leading whole-class learning under teacher direction, and delivering targeted interventions.

You will work across the primary curriculum, support pupils with diverse needs including SEND, and help plan, assess, and track progress.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience (essential).
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
• Confidently lead learning activities under teacher direction.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Proactive, flexible and supportive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support and, where appropriate, lead whole-class learning under teacher direction
• Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions
• Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities
• Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
• Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment
