Senior Highways Engineer – UK Wide, Hybrid Role

Job summary

Jacobs is recruiting a Senior Highways Engineer to deliver safe, practical and commercially sound highways design solutions for clients across the UK, including National Highways, Transport Scotland and local authorities.

You will take ownership of design deliverables, mentor less experienced team members, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvements while ensuring programme and budget integrity. We support flexible/hybrid working across UK locations.

Qualifications

• Design experience in transportation and the built environment.
• Attained a relevant professional qualification, e.g. degree in engineering, and CEng/IEng or equivalent qualifications or work experience.
• Technical experience delivering local and/or major highways projects or land side alignment elements in adjacent markets such as Water Aviation or rail.
• Thorough understanding of design standards such as DMRB, MCHW or international equivalents.
• Sound knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and a passion for safety and wellbeing.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a global multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Lead design deliverables and take ownership of key outputs.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies.
• Mentor and support less experienced team members.
• Collaborate with discipline leads and stakeholders to ensure programme and budget integrity.
