Job summary

Jacobs is expanding its UK highways capability and seeks experienced Principal Engineers to lead the delivery of safe, practical design solutions for major clients including National Highways and Transport Scotland.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical leadership, and promote efficient design processes across the UK and international teams, shaping project outcomes and future capability within Jacobs.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering engineering design solutions in transportation.
• Thorough understanding of DMRB or international equivalents.
• Sound knowledge of UK H&S legislation.
• Ability to work independently within a global multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in financial management and control of projects.
• Attained a relevant professional qualification such as a degree in engineering /CEng/ IEng or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of safe, practical highways design solutions for clients including National Highways, Transport Scotland, and local authorities.
• Guide design teams, solve technical challenges, and ensure quality, programme and budget commitments.
• Mentor engineers and support their development while improving design processes through automation.
• Collaborate with specialists across the UK and internationally.
