Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in Manchester is seeking a Senior/Principal Highway & Infrastructure Design Engineer to lead the delivery of complex highway and infrastructure schemes. You will drive design packages from concept through to approval, coordinating with planners, authorities and client teams.

You will mentor engineers, manage project delivery, and contribute to growth and Chartership efforts while working in a collaborative, employee-owned international consultancy.

Qualifications

• Strong UK consultancy experience within highways and infrastructure design.
• Experience delivering highway schemes through design and technical approval.
• Strong knowledge of highway design, drainage and infrastructure.
• Experience working on S278/S38 schemes.
• Strong project management and client-facing experience.
• Ability to lead technical work and support the development of junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of highway, drainage and infrastructure design packages
• Managing projects and technical workstreams through the approval process
• Delivering Section 278 and Section 38 highway schemes, with knowledge of Section 104 and 106 agreements
• Producing and reviewing detailed designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Applying relevant standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets and drainage guidance
• Reviewing technical drawings, reports and design information
• Liaising with clients, local authorities and wider project teams
• Managing project programmes, resources and technical deliverables
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians
• Supporting the development of the wider team and contributing to business growth
• Taking responsibility for the quality and technical delivery of projects
