Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is hiring a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer in Burgess Hill to join the Vehicle Services leadership team. You will process technical applications, ensuring full assessment and compliant documentation, while advising non-technical processing teams and external partners.

You will work with technical standards, legal assessments, and DVSA guidance to help meet targets and improve service delivery. The role offers flexible working and a strong civil service pension.

Qualifications

• Experience assessing heavy vehicle applications and issuing compliant decisions.
• Knowledge of DVSA standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to provide technical guidance to non-technical teams and front-line colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assess heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first tests and conversions.
• Support ECWVTA assessments with expert input.
• Provide technical advice to processing teams and external stakeholders.
• Investigate solutions to mitigate risks and improve processes.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Policy on new standards and regulatory changes.
• Communicate clearly with customers to ensure accurate responses.
