Job summary

WSP in the UK is seeking experienced flood risk professionals to lead technical delivery on Local Authority projects within our Sustainable Water Management team. The appointment is at Senior or Principal grade with flexible location across the UK and a true hybrid work arrangement.

You will contribute to a diverse range of flood risk projects, including investigations, strategy development, sustainable drainage master-planning, and support to planning processes, while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Experience in flood risk management with local authorities or public/private sector exposure.
• Experience leading delivery of projects or outputs related to flood risk management or sustainable drainage.
• Knowledge of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and related UK planning guidance.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Knowledge of surface water drainage modelling and Sustainable Drainage Systems.
• Experience in preparing Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and SFRA.
• Proven ability in technical report writing and checking.
• Confidence presenting and leading client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality technical deliverables, often as reviewer.
• Mentor junior colleagues and oversee small project teams.
• Manage workload and project delivery with minimal supervision.
• Champion Health & Safety behaviours across the team.
• Contribute to planning with input on programme, budget and quality.
• Engage professionally with clients and develop trusted advisor relationships.
• Contribute to securing small projects and extensions to existing work.
• Develop solutions with project or team leaders.
