Job summary

WSP is seeking experienced professionals to join our Sustainable Water Management team in the UK. The role involves leading flood risk management projects for Local Authorities, delivering technical leadership across a range of investigations, strategies, and drainage solutions.

The position can be at Senior or Principal grade, with flexible location within the UK and a true hybrid work arrangement. You will mentor colleagues and contribute to securing new work while delivering excellence for

Qualifications

• Experience in flood risk management with local authorities or similar public/private sector mix.
• Ability to understand budgets and lead delivery of projects or outputs.
• Knowledge of UK Flood and Water Management Act 2010, Land Drainage Act and Planning Practice Guidance.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills; liaise with senior colleagues when needed.
• Knowledge of surface water drainage modelling and Sustainable Drainage Systems.
• Experience preparing Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and SFRA.

Responsibilities

• Significantly contribute to delivery of high-quality technical deliverables, often as technical reviewer.
• Mentor junior colleagues and oversee small project teams.
• Manage workload and project delivery with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate safe working behaviours and champion health & safety.
• Contribute to task planning including programme, budget, and quality requirements.
• Build client networks and act as a trusted advisor as relationships grow.
