Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to join our Sustainable Water Management team. You will work on local authority flood risk projects, delivering flood risk assessments, drainage strategies, and related planning support while mentoring colleagues and leading technically complex assignments.

The role includes coordinating multidisciplinary teams, engaging with clients, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation such as the Flood Risk Management Act and National

Qualifications

• Experience delivering local authority flood risk services including Sustainable Drainage Systems, Flood Risk Management Plans, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, flood investigations, planning review support.
• Experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to support planning applications for new development.
• Ability understand budgets and lead delivery of projects and technical outputs in flood risk management or sustainable drainage.
• Knowledge of Flood Risk Management Act, National Planning Framework 4, SEPA guidance and local authority policies; wider UK planning context is a plus.
• Experience mentoring junior colleagues and leading technical report writing and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to or leading delivery of high-quality technical deliverables for clients as a reviewer/approver.
• Mentor junior colleagues and oversee small project teams; manage projects balancing programme, budget and quality.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to secure new projects and extensions.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary meetings with clients and internal teams; maintain client relationships.
• Promote and demonstrate safe working practices within the team.
