Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate to join the Water team in flood forecasting. You will lead real-time forecast projects and expand services with the Environment Agency. The role includes non-real-time modelling across hydrology, with mentoring and client engagement.

You will work within a hybrid model across UK & Ireland, collaborating with engineers and consultants on projects from concept to completion. AECOM provides development opportunities and a flexible, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in flood forecasting modelling (Flood Modeller).
• Strong knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood forecasting models.
• Proven ability to calibrate and apply hydrological models for flood forecasting.
• Excellent analytical skills with hydrometric data processing and gauge rating reviews.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports.
• Develop, calibrate, and check flood forecasting models (e.g. PDM, Flood Modeller).
• Carry out non-real-time modelling and hydrological analysis using tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, FEH methods.
• Produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model build and uncertainties.
• Lead and contribute to tenders for key clients.
• Mentor and support team members in their professional development.
• Build relationships with clients and colleagues across disciplines.
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation and guidelines.
