Job summary

AECOM in the UK is seeking a Senior Flood Modeller to lead high‑quality flood modelling and hydrology projects across the UK. You will guide junior staff and help develop offerings for local authorities, water companies, and public sector clients.

You’ll deliver hydraulic and water quality models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, MIKE and ICM, and contribute to tenders and client relations. The role offers a hybrid working model, career development and a broad portfolio of challenging projects.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software.
• Knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood models and risk assessments.
• Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and check hydraulic models to support Flood Alleviation Schemes and Flood Risk Assessments.
• Develop water quality models using standard software.
• Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches considering risks and opportunities.
• Lead and input into tenders for projects and frameworks.
• Mentor staff and develop team capabilities.
• Build relationships with clients and other technical disciplines.
• Stay updated with legislation and guidelines affecting services.
• Deliver outputs on time and within budget using project management systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical specialists on flood risk projects.
