Job summary

Join AECOM’s Water team as an Associate Hydrologist, based in the UK or Ireland with a flexible hybrid working model. You will lead hydrological assessments for flood risk management, water resources strategy, and environmental permitting across the UK and internationally.

The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, project oversight and team mentoring within a growing water group. AECOM offers development opportunities and a broad benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography or related discipline.
• Evidence of significant experience (≥15 years) in leading flood flow estimation using FEH/REFH2 for flood mapping and reservoir engineering.
• Strong GIS skills and experience with hydraulic models.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead or verify flood hydrological assessments informing flood alleviation schemes and flood risk studies.
• Technically review or verify hydrological assessment reports.
• Support the Water team in business development for national and international projects.
• Mentor staff in hydrological estimation for professional development.
• Build relationships with clients and across technical disciplines.
• Keep up-to-date with legislation and guidelines affecting our services.
• Deliver thought leadership and represent AECOM at conferences to showcase expertise.
• Drive innovation, including AI solutions, within the team.
