Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Flood Modeller to join our Water team in the UK. You will lead hydraulic and water quality modelling for high-profile flood risk projects, mentoring junior staff and guiding project delivery to align with client needs, budgets and deadlines.

Working across the UK and beyond, you’ll apply your expertise in Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, ICM and other industry tools to develop robust models, support bid work, and contribute to delivering resilient water infrastructure while

Qualifications

• Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (e.g. Flood Modeller, ICM, SIMCAT, TUFLOW, Mike)
• Knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood models and risk assessments
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline; CIWEM qualification preferred
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Practical scripting knowledge (Python, Anaconda, Ruby) advantageous

Responsibilities

• Develop and check hydraulic models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, MIKE, HEC-RAS and ICM.
• Develop water quality models using MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and ICM.
• Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches considering risks/opportunities.
• Undertake hydrological assessments including FEH, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
• Lead tenders ranging from small projects to large framework contracts.
• Mentor staff within the team to support professional development.
• Build relationships with clients and other technical disciplines.
• Keep up-to-date with legislation and guidelines affecting services.
• Use project management systems to deliver outputs on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver diverse flood risk projects.
