Job summary

The Travelers in the United Kingdom is seeking a Development Underwriter who combines underwriting and sales, focusing on broker relationships and growth. You will underwrite and assess risk, make decisions within authority, and drive profitability with pricing and cross-selling.

Hybrid work policy allows three days in the office and two at home, with opportunities to mentor colleagues and collaborate with risk, claims, actuarial, and other teams.

Qualifications

• University degree and/or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Advanced Certification or Diploma.
• General knowledge of industry business operations and financial drivers that affect the Line of Business.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and assess risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers.
• Make appropriate decisions within own underwriting authority and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Underwrite more complex accounts and risks and consider pricing, retention, endorsements, limits, indemnity, security.
• Develop and leverage broker/client relationships and manage broker visits/meetings.
• Lead or participate in regional and product underwriting and/or sales meetings.
• Deliver high-quality underwriting service and maintain customer satisfaction.
