Job summary

The Travelers in the United Kingdom seeks a Development Underwriter with strong underwriting and sales capabilities. You will underwrite and assess risk for products and broker accounts, develop broker relationships, and collaborate with regional teams to achieve profitability and growth.

You will serve as a local expert, mentor others, and ensure compliant documentation while driving performance across retention, pricing and new business targets.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of industry operations and financial drivers that affect the Line of Business.
• Local insurance marketplace knowledge used to benefit the Company; seek local market insight.
• Market insight and knowledge used to mentor others.
• Relationship Management: build and maintain productive relationships to meet goals.
• Business Perspective: understand Lloyd's Market factors to make decisions.
• Financial/Accounting: apply finance principles to underwriting profitability.
• Product/Technical: demonstrate proficiency commensurate with underwriting authority.
• Sound quoting and pricing decisions in the Company’s best interests.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and assess risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers.
• Make decisions within underwriting authority with complete recommendations to leadership.
• Develop and leverage broker/client relationships with visibility and disciplined sales management.
• Lead and participate in regular regional/product underwriting and sales meetings.
• Deliver superior customer service and support underwriting, sales and production goals.
• Ensure timely and accurate underwriting documentation in account systems.
