Job summary

The National Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager for Stourhead to lead facilities and operational support at a high‑complexity level. You will manage built assets, champion safety, compliance and sustainability, and drive performance across staff, volunteers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities, asset and maintenance management with relevant qualifications or equivalent expertise.
• Knowledge of compliance, risk management, health and safety, environmental regulations and legislation.
• Experience developing and implementing risk assessments, safety procedures and emergency response arrangements.
• Understanding of building fabric, maintenance and conservation principles.
• Strategic and commercial acumen, including budget, contractor, procurement and supplier management.
• Experience leading high‑performing teams and building effective stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver facilities management and operational support services of high complexity and risk.
• Lead a team of staff, volunteers and placements to maintain high standards in built assets with focus on safety, compliance and sustainability.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership for built assets, including maintenance plans and reactive works aligned with conservation goals.
• Oversee soft FM activities and wider operational services enabling other functions to operate effectively.
• Identify and mitigate safety and compliance requirements from ownership and use of assets; manage contractor relations and CDM responsibilities.
• Drive energy, waste, water and supply chain sustainability; manage small/medium maintenance projects as a stakeholder in wider works.
