Job summary

United Infrastructure Power T&D Limited seeks a Senior Environmental Adviser to support environmental controls and mitigations on a major transmission project in the Scottish Highlands. Based in Alness, the role splits between the Site Office and worksites, guiding environmental contractors and ensuring compliance with legal, client and UIPT&G requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of UIPT&G’s environmental strategy and approach to environmental management including the implementation of UIPT&D’s environmental standards.
• Provide technical support to facilitate the Contract Environmental Management Plan to ensure that environmental aspects are appropriately identified and managed and that UIPT&G’s HSSE policy obligations are enacted.
• Assist in the identification, understanding and communication of the legal, industry and contractual environmental obligations placed on UIPT&D and it's contractors.
• Assist in the development and provision of training on key environmental aspects to facilitate greater environmental awareness across the business.
• Work with assurance teams in developing and undertaking environmental inspections and audits as required assigned to the project.
• Provide support on a broad range of environmental management issues e.g. Peat Management, Water Management, Species protection and other Environmental constraints.
• Provision of technical environmental advice and support to project management and workforce to ensure that environmental obligations are effectively supported as per the Contract Environmental Management Plan.
• Assist in the reporting and investigation of environmental incidents and subsequent monitoring to ensure any trends are identified and mitigated effectively.
• Manage the deployment and monitoring of environmental technical (Ecology and Archaeology) contractors, collating their reports and advising of changes and solutions affecting the project programme.
• Carrying out environmental Walkovers, ensuring the environmental aspects are identified that impact the project programme and the controls and mitigations to comply with the legal, company, client and other stakeholder’s requirements and responsibilities.
• Review RAMS and Risk Assessments with a view of environmental aspects and impacts and the suitability of controls Liaise with the Environmental Lead regarding activities at the worksite and the environmental controls, issues, alerts etc.
