Job summary

Cloudflare in London, United Kingdom, is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Egress team to own connectivity software infrastructure powering a portfolio of products. You will lead a growing group of Software and Systems Engineers, drive roadmap execution, and coordinate across product and engineering to deliver scalable, reliable services.

You will oversee incident response, drive reliability improvements, and evaluate tradeoffs while mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as an Engineering Manager for Software and Systems Engineers.
• Demonstrate track record of managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
• Excel at planning and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability.
• Experience/interest in Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking.
• Experience/interest in network performance monitoring and tuning.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging distributed systems.
• Experience participating in and/or managing an on-call rotation for production services with direct customer impact.
• Willingness to adopt and integrate AI tools and systems into your workflow.
• Clarity in written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to communicate the vision, prioritize the team's roadmap, and achieve cross-functional objectives.
• Understanding the technical implications of work across a distributed software network infrastructure to influence scope and unblock projects.
• Applying technical experience to evaluate tradeoffs, contribute to design decisions, and help drive resolution to customer-facing issues.
• Taking responsibility for the team's production services by organizing on-call rotations and overseeing incident response and follow-up.
• Driving reliability and automation improvements across the platform.
• Using tools and processes to convey project status and resolve blockages.
