Job summary

Malt in London is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Compliance strategy for our product engineering team. You will oversee delivery, performance, and people management for our Compliance squads, ensuring safety and integrity for hundreds of thousands of freelancers.

You will partner with the Product Director and Design Lead to translate regulatory requirements into a seamless user experience, raise engineering excellence, define KPIs, and mentor engineers through architecture

Qualifications

• Hands-on manager with a strong backend foundation (Java or Kotlin).
• Systems thinker who guides migrations without losing focus on goals.
• Experience scaling compliance or fintech systems in high-security environments.
• Strategic risk management at the tech-regulatory crossroads.
• Fluent English communication; French is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a high-performing team, directly managing 2–3 cross-functional squads.
• Co-build product and technical strategy with leaders, translating regulatory requirements into UX.
• Raise the bar on delivery, set and track KPIs for velocity and quality.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and scale frameworks across the organization.
• Own compliance ecosystem and serve as primary technical contact for external partners.
