Job summary

TWI Ltd. in Cambridge is seeking an Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the Friction Welding & Processing team.

You will work on a diverse portfolio of industrial R&D and consultancy projects across aerospace, defence, energy, manufacturing and transportation, delivering innovative joining solutions. The role emphasizes designing and executing experiments in friction welding and solid-state joining, analyzing data, reporting findings, and collaborating with clients and partners.

Qualifications

A degree, MSc or PhD in Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience in friction welding or related joining technologies advantageous.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
Passion for innovation and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

Delivering industrial research, development and consultancy projects.
Designing and executing experimental programmes relating to friction welding and solid state joining technologies.
Analysing technical data and producing high quality reports and recommendations.
Supporting client enquiries and developing innovative engineering solutions.
Contributing to commercially funded and collaborative research programmes.
Building strong relationships with industrial clients and research partners.
Supporting proposal development and new business opportunities.
