Job summary

TWI Ltd is seeking a Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across space, aerospace, nuclear, automotive and defence programmes from our Sheffield location.

You will lead technical delivery, act as a technical authority, and build trusted relationships with customers and partners, while identifying new business opportunities and mentoring teams. This role requires BPSS clearance and travel within the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Chartered Engineer status preferred or working towards.
• Experience in regulated industries (aerospace, space, defence, nuclear, automotive).
• Strong technical leadership and stakeholder management.
• Proven track record in proposals and securing work.
• Experience delivering complex engineering programmes.
• BPSS clearance required; existing clearance advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of complex engineering and research programmes.
• Act as a recognised technical authority across key sectors.
• Develop trusted relationships with customers, partners and government.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor staff.
• Represent TWI at customer meetings and industry events.
• Support growth of TWI's capabilities and strategic objectives.
