Job summary

TWI Ltd, based in Sheffield, seeks a Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across space, aerospace, nuclear, automotive and defence programmes. You will lead complex engineering projects and mentor engineers while building strong customer and partner relationships.

The role requires a degree in a relevant engineering discipline, Chartered status preferred, and BPSS clearance. Travel in the UK may be required. On-site, full-time position with a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Materials Science.
• Chartered Engineer status preferred or in progress.
• Experience in highly regulated industries (aerospace, space, defence, nuclear, automotive, advanced manufacturing).
• Significant technical leadership experience and strong stakeholder management.
• Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of complex engineering and research programmes.
• Act as recognised technical authority across key sectors.
• Develop trusted relationships with customers, partners and government stakeholders.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor staff.
• Represent TWI at meetings, conferences and events.
• Support growth of TWI’s technical capabilities and strategic objectives.
