Job summary

Mimecast is seeking a Senior Engineer in Strategic Initiatives (R&D) to contribute to the build-and-prove layer of AI-native engineering. You will collaborate across teams to surface challenges, reduce friction, and develop reusable paving roads centered on architecture and security.

You will bring hands-on software engineering across Python and TypeScript, with experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and secure development practices.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on software engineering skills with demonstrated ability to ship production-quality tooling, automation, and integrations (e.g., Python, TypeScript, or equivalent).
• Evidence of initiative and impact beyond immediate team responsibilities.
• Full-spectrum engineering background spanning multiple disciplines — not a narrow specialist.

Responsibilities

• Work across tooling, enablement, and architecture in an integrated fashion—building reusable patterns and prototyping agentic systems.
• Collaborate to surface challenges and remove friction for rapid, secure delivery.
• Contribute to reusable paved roads focusing on architecture, security alignment, and governance.
• Surface observations to inform strategic direction and priorities within R&D.
• Share knowledge through documentation, examples, and hands-on support for teams.
