Job summary

Mimecast’s Data Platform Team drives real-time insights by processing massive data volumes and powering AI‑enabled security products. The Software Engineer will build scalable AWS microservices, mentor junior engineers, and create robust data pipelines in a data‑centric, AI‑First engineering culture.

You’ll collaborate across teams, ensure reliable operations, and contribute to a hybrid working model that balances office presence with flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience with Java development to build services and libraries with Java 21 and above.
• Experience in developing and supporting backend systems for data processing within AWS.
• Hands-on experience with foundational AWS services (ALB, ECS, S3, ElastiCache, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Knowledge of implementing and maintaining Kafka-based event-driven services.
• Proficiency in relational or NoSQL databases with design and optimization understanding.
• Champion AI-powered development tools across the engineering lifecycle with an AI-first mindset.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of Jenkins and developing CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Implement scalable and reliable microservices on AWS infrastructure.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering collaboration and growth.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for architectures and processes.
• Provide support during critical incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Monitor AWS usage and propose cost-saving improvements without compromising performance.
